Shops and establishments remained closed in support of Mullaperiyar dam issue and Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Madurai and in the southern districts of Theni, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai and Dindigul, on Thursday.
Members of the Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchant Association and its associates, who had given a call for a bandh in support of Tamil Nadu Government's stand on Mullaperiyar dam issue, sat on fast from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Maditssia Hall in the city.
Members of the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and its affiliatessat on fast at the Chamber building in the city from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Shops and establishments remained closed in the districts of Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai, they said.
