Only one grades of CTC tea from bought leaf factories managed to enter the high-price bracket of ₹200 per kg at Sale No: 26 of auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association.
In the CTC Dust tea auction, Vigneshwar Specialty Red Dust, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing topped when Om Enterprises bought it for ₹210.
This is significant because the average price in this Sale was only₹73.32 per kg-the lowest since Oct 30, 2015.
Even after reducing the price so much, about 40 per cent of the offer remained unsold. Buyers said that they waited for a clear picture to emerge in the post-GST regime for bidding.
In the orthodox market, Kodanad topped at ₹266, followed by Chamraj ₹220 and Vigneshwar Speciality ₹214.
