With the Business Line corporate quiz Cerebration coming to Coimbatore on January 12, it is celebration time in the city!
That the programme has established itself in the quiz map of the country is proven by the fact that the number of cities where the event is held this year has doubled from last year with six cities holding the event compared with three last year.
But what is special about Coimbatore being among the host cities is that it is the only tier II city chosen to play host to Cerebration this year with the other host cities being much bigger -Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. While more than 50 teams had participated in the online phase of the quiz programme, 22 teams have been shortlisted for the regional finals to be held in Coimbatore on January 12.
Some of the participating teams are from TCS, Southern Railways, Chennai Silks, Brookefields Estate, VIT University, PSG College of Technology, KCT Business School etc. With 9 of the 22 competing teams consisting of students from various city colleges, a lot of youth firepower will be on show at the event.
Corporation Bank is the title sponsor and associate sponsors are NCDEX and SAIL. Le Meridien (hotel) is the hospitality partner and the gift sponsors are Raymond Weil, App Tabs and Lawrence & Mayo. Well known quiz master Giri Balasubramanian of Pickbrains will conduct the programme. The regional sponsor is Park Group of Institutions, Coimbatore.
The event will be held at Hotel Le Meridien on Avinashi Road on Saturday. While registration starts at 9.30 a.m., preliminary rounds would begin at 10.30 a.m.
