The industry should engage itself `more intensely’ with rural areas, according to Ms Pratibha Patil, President of India.
Addressing the students of Indian School of Business (ISB) here on Monday, Ms Patil said much work needed to be done in rural areas, especially in the agricultural sector.
The importance of agriculture was growing in the context of inclusive growth and importance of food security.
There were many examples of success by institutions and companies which have worked in rural India, she said.
``I have been calling for development of some basic models to bring farmers into partnership arrangements with the corporate world, much like a joint venture,’’ the President said.
