The Assam Minister of State for Cooperation and Border Areas, Mr Siddique Ahmed, has urged inclusion of the State in transit routes from the North-East to the rest of the country through Bangladesh.
India has sought 15 transit routes from the region to mainland of India through Bangladesh but all the proposed routes are through Tripura, Meghalaya and West Bengal, leaving Assam out of the proposed routes.
Mr Ahmed, in a letter to the State Transport Minister, Mr Chandan Brahma, urged him to take initiative to include Assam in the proposed route.
