Chennai Metro Rail trains have turned colourful with bright advertisements flashing on the sides. The French advertising company JCDecaux has won a ten-year contract for an undisclosed amount from Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) for both outdoor and indoor advertising of trains, said sources. The first set of advertisements was of Renault and Reliance Trends adorning the sides of trains running between Koyambedu and Alandur.
Second after DelhiFor JCDecaux, the contract from CMRL was the second after Delhi Metro where it was involved in trains of Airport Express Line running between New Delhi railway station and international airport, sources said. For CMRL, the deal will augment non-operational revenue and position Chennai Metro as a most sought after location for advertising.
