Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the three-day Maritime India Summit in Mumbai on April 14th. The summit is aimed at attracting potential investors to vast opportunities that various components of the Maritime Sector have to offer.
It is showcasing projects covering sectors like port development and modernisation, Greenfield ports, port-led development under “Sagarmala”, shipbuilding, ship repair and ship breaking, inland water transportation, coastal shipping, lighthouse tourism and cruise shipping, hinterland connectivity and logistics handling facilities to the potential investors from across the world. The shipping ministry to showcase around.a 250 projects with investment opportunity in the maritime sector.
Prime Minister said Indian shipping sector is ready for “a long haul” and called upon investors not to miss out on “the pleasant journey and great destination".
Over 100 projects have been identified under the ambitious Sagarmala programme.
