Be ready to pay Rs 200 for any domestic flights and Rs 1,300 for any international flight departing from Delhi. The Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has allowed the Delhi International Airport Private Ltd (DIAL) to levy these mount as Airport Development Fee (ADF) again from December 1.
The levy of fee, which was suspended from June 1 by the Delhi High Court, will help the airport operator to bridge the total funding gap of Rs 1931.27 crore. This fee will be levied for an estimated period up to May 2013 (Stage 1) to recover Rs 1230.27 crore. Then in the second stage, fee will be charged from June 1, 2013, to February 28, 2014, to get the balance gap of Rs 701 crore .
The AERA decision also approves almost entire project cost of DIAL barring an amount of about Rs 204 crore, which has also been incurred by DIAL on the upgradation of apron (Rs 23.82 crore), runway (Rs 37.50 crore), additional reinforcement of civil structures (Rs 35.67 crore) and increase in floor area of 8,652 sq m (Rs 107.15 crore) all executed through competitive bidding process.
Commenting on the development, Mr I. Prabhakara Rao, CEO, DIAL, said, “We welcome the restoration of ADF. It has come as a great relief. Despite suspension of collection of ADF for over five months, DIAL struggled and met all its obligations including servicing of capital creditors and short term loans raised for execution of the project.”
