Orissa Assembly was disrupted amid two quick adjournments today with Opposition Congress members storming into the well and hitting out at the BJD government over abduction of Malkangiri district Collector Mr R V Krishna by Maoists.

While Congress legislators trooped into the well soon after the House assembled for the day demanding suspension of question hour to discuss the incident, BJP MLAs were on their feet lashing out at the government.

Raising the issue, leader of opposition Mr Bhupinder Singh alleged that the government machinery had collapsed in the state and law and order situation reached its nadir during the BJD rule even as colleagues of his Congress party rushed into the well.

Congress MLAs raised slogans against the government asking it to step down as some of them tried to climb the speaker’s podium and snatch the mike on his table.

Mr Singh and his partymen attacked the government for not sharing information on the whereabouts of the kidnapped collector and steps being taken for his release a day after the IAS officer was abducted.

The opposition legislators demanded immediate statement from the government on the incident. As uproarious scenes persisted, Speaker Mr Pradip Amat adjourned the House twice finding it difficult to conduct business.
