The US Treasury Secretary, Mr Tim Geithner, will visit India on June 27-28, the US Department of the Treasury announced today.

Mr Geithner will be in Delhi on June 27 to participate in the third annual meeting of the US-India Economic and Financial Partnership with the Finance Minister, Mr Pranab Mukherjee.

The US Treasury Secretary will visit Mumbai the next day to meet the Reserve Bank of India Governor, Dr D. Subbarao. He will also meet Indian business leaders from a variety of industries.

The US-India Economic and Financial Partnership has served as a platform for greater cooperation on economic issues of importance to both nations.

Partnership activities over the last three years have focused on three broad areas — macroeconomic policy, financial sector and infrastructure financing.

In addition to these, Mr Geithner will also during his interaction with Indian side discuss issues related to illicit finance, including the implementation of international sanctions.
