An update to Windows 8 planned for the end of this month will not just re-introduce the much-missed Start button — it will also see Office suites expanded with Outlook, says Microsoft.

Tablets with the standard version of the operating system will also come with an Office suite.

There will also be some changes to the interface with Windows 8.1.

One swipe of the screen should show all installed apps, which can then be sorted into various categories, set up as icons on the start screen and grouped however the user see fits.

There will also be more designs, colours and animation options with the start screen, meaning more individualization.

The reworked search option can pull results from an individual’s computer as well as from the internet. It searches apps and programmes, which can then be started from the search window.

The operating system’s multi-tasking functions have also been improved. In the future, up to four apps can be used at once, in separate fields, the size of which the user controls.

There are also a lot of new additions for business, including enhanced VPN support and direct wi-fi printing without the need for special software or extra drivers.
