Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, Tamil Nadu circle, plans to lay 1,140 km of optical fibre cable across the State.
While 200 km of OFC has already been laid, another 500 km of cable is being laid. The balance will be laid before March, said a BSNL official.
Once fully laid, the OFC network will improve connectivity for voice and data significantly, M. Ashraf Khan, Chief General Manager, BSNL, TN circle, told newspersons.
There was a shortage of cable last year. However, the installation has started to happen quickly this year, he later told Business Line .
