After emerging as one of the top domestic handset players in the country, Celkon Mobiles now has set its eyes on the exclusive service space.

“We have been offering service through franchise service centres. But then those franchises are also taking care of mobile service to some other players as well. We have decided to establish a chain of exclusive service stores in major cities in the South,” Y Guru, Chairman and Managing Director of the Hyderabad-based mobile player Celkon Mobiles, told Business Line.

The company, which opened its first in the series of stores here, will call the stores Celkon Care. “Besides offering service to our line of phones, we will provide value-added services such as selling anti-virus solutions and phone accessories,” he said.

These stores would also allow the Celkon users to swap their old phones with newer models. They will also get a chance to see the new line up of phones from the company.

“We are going to open seven centres in the next two weeks in Hyderabad. After setting up centres in 23 district headquarters in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, we will expand to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala in the next two months,” he said.

Karnataka will have 15 stores, followed by Tamil Nadu with 10 and Kerala with four. The exclusive stores would also be owned and run by franchises with each of them having a Celkon staffer.
