Scenery: Mamagoto Restaurant, Delhi Style: Manish Arora A futuristic angel walks on earth. Winged epaulets stretch around her shoulders. Iridescent shades shimmer on the ensemble and catch a reflection of fleeting light. A comic book caricature captures a newage space in a sci-fi world. The exaggerated and elongated contours of the furniture wrap around the alcove and stretch to envelop people. A Chinese checkerboard artwork is poised like a deep space star over the scene; the twinkle of tones and the texture echoing the glittering pattern on the dress. A balanced creamy background on the walls and in the furniture lets the area breathe, giving enough room to the accent cushions and artwork to find attention. Lighting enhances the story and gives soft shine to metallic surfaces. The weeping inky raincloud is a powerful graphic reminder not to take things too seriously.

Scenery: Palette, MumbaiStyle: Tarun TahilianiStriated sunset shades of aqua and coral cascade down a ‘60s sheath. Sophisticated, belying traditional tie and dye, the look still conveys a spirited sense of freedom.Coral and aqua, in turn, have been trend colours in interiors. Home trends evolve and it’s wonderful to be able to embrace both of them in one space, beyond time or trend. Textured pillows and throws in rich coral red and grape dot the bedroom landscape. A liquid artwork holds both the water-borne tones; aqua and coral in a shimmering balance. Aquatic shades cool the warm scheme and lift it, mesmerizingly calling us to jump right in.
Scenery: Café at the Giardini, Venice Style: Manish AroraWhen curves are cut by angles, does it detract from the figure? Fashion’s favourite, the colour block garment is all the rage again. What Mondrian does on his day off? Paint this cafe, that is. Graphic strips run crazily across this restaurant. They enclose the whole space, running amok from floor to walls and onto the ceilings. Not for a minute is one overwhelmed. Presented with such madness, amazingly the brain rewires and finds the lines and walkways to follow the seating and serving counters. Bright pops of green, yellow and pink draw attention away from the bold stripes forming vivid pools of friendly fluorescence.
Scenery: Klippan sofa at Ikea Style: Manish AroraBits, bytes, mosaic, tiles. Digital graphics of urban skyscrapers scale long legs. Fetish colours of Miami deco pastels end in a fanfare frill. This much-loved sofa from Ikea anticipates high fashion. Home-spun Swedish cross-stitch is rendered in a digitized form as a print. The mosaic runs along the cushioning in a large size. This, in the spirit of current style, is a double take on something we are used to seeing every day. Every stitch is rendered as new-age digital embroidery, making it pixel perfect!
