Microsoft is giving finishing touches to Windows 8 in Hindi and other regional languages.
Talking to Business Line , Christopher Flores, Director, Windows Communications, Microsoft, said Windows 8 version will be launched in 11 Indian languages initially.
The company also plans to add other Indian regional languages after Windows 8 is officially launched. Microsoft generally issues language upgrades within 90 days of release of a new operating system. With Windows 8, the company totally supports 109 world languages, 14 more than what it supported in Windows 7.
According to industry watchers, Windows 7 was one of the most successful releases from Microsoft after a debacle with its Vista operating system. Additionally, the company hopes to drive revenues from its Windows division, which has seen continued flat revenue growth due to its high reliance on traditional PCs.
According to company data, Microsoft sold 400 million licences in 2011. In the recently held quarterly results, Bill Koefoed, GM, Investor Relations, said that Windows 8 will be launched on October 26.
