International Day of Yoga is June 21 — as declared by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2014.
In its 11th edition, the theme is ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, and the national event involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take place in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. Multiple events planned on the day include Yoga Sangama — a synchronised demonstration at 10,000 locations, aiming for a world record; Yoga Bandhan — partnerships with 10 countries to host yoga sessions at iconic landmarks; development of 1,000 ‘yoga parks’ for community engagement; Yoga Samavesh — programmes for the differently abled, senior citizens, children, and marginalised groups; and Yoga Unplugged — an event to attract young people to yoga.
