National Instruments (NI), one of the leading companies in the test and measurement industry introduced the latest version of LabVIEW system design software.

Unveiling this software at the NIDays annual event, LabVIEW 2013 facilitates the management, documentation and debugging of increasingly complex systems, according to company officials. Further, LabVIEW 2013 adds support for the Linux real-time Operaing System (OS), giving software developers access to dynamic, community-sourced libraries.

James Truchard, president, CEO, and co-founder of NI said: "Designing complex systems in such a way that they are more intuitive coupled with a software defined approach towards building systems is the way forward."

NIDays 2013 witnessed participation from NI customers and alliance partners, researchers, scientists and engineers numbering around 700 came from across industries including health care, semiconductor, aerospace, automotive, life sciences, robotics and telecommunication. The NI Application of the Year was awarded to the team from VSSC Trivandrum, from Indian Space Research Organisation's AERO department, for their application titled ‘Development of 1 m Hypersonic wind tunnel Control, Networking, Data acquisition system and graphical display system.’

The company also unveiled its Planet NI initiative, which aims to help engineers in emerging economies by giving them software tools. The event was attended by more than 700 engineers, researchers and scientists.
