India is now the second biggest market behind the US for Zoho, a provider of online productivity, collaboration and business applications, which competes with Google in many categories.

“India is not only our hub to develop products and solutions but also has become a large market,” said the company’s chief evangelist Raju Vegesna, who is responsible for Zoho’s branding, build products and work on design. The company’s largest development centre is in the city’s outskirts.

A couple of years ago, India was in fifth position behind the US, the UK, China and Mexico. However, business has ramped up so fast in India, which is now behind the US, he told Business Line.

Zoho is every month adding nearly two lakh users in India. Business in Mexico is also increasing substantially, he said.

The company’s applications can be used by small, micro, medium and large companies.

Zoho is the operating system for business — a single cloud platform with all necessary applications to run a business entirely from the cloud. Additionally, businesses can run their own operations on Zoho's finance and human resources applications such as Books, People and Recruit, he said.

It has a model similar to Google, which sells its applications through G suite but has only nine applications whereas Zoho has 30 applications. Both Zoho and Google also have integrated offerings on each other’s applications and sold to nearly one lakh customers globally, said Vegesna.

Over 25 million users globally thousands of companies rely on Zoho every day to run their businesses.

A division of Zoho Corp, a privately-held and consistently profitable company, with over 4,000 employees. Zoho is headquartered in the US with international headquarters in Chennai and offices in Austin, London, Yokohama and Beijing.

Vegesna said the company recently started television advertisement, and also billboards and cricket advertisements.
