Crude oil futures today fell by Rs 22, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 6,496 per barrel as speculators trimmed positions amid a weakening trend in the Asian trade.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in October fell by Rs 22, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 6,496 per barrel in 83 lots.
Similarly, the oil for September delivery moved down by Rs 14, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 6,537 per barrel in 1,222 lots.
The trading sentiment weakened at futures trade after crude oil prices declined in Asian trade ahead of a US crude inventory report, analysts said.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for delivery in September was down 24 cents to USD 106.59 a barrel in mid-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
