Haryana has exceeded the target for 65 lakh metric tonnes of wheat procurement in the ongoing rabi marketing year, with 66.52 lakh metric tonnes lifted so far.

While stating this here on Friday, an official spokesman said over 66.56 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in various mandis of the state. Out of the total arrival of wheat during the marketing year, 4,084 metric tonnes has been procured by traders, he said.

Haryana, which is heading for record wheat procurement this marketing year, had recorded the highest-ever wheat arrival of 69.24 lakh metric tonnes in 2009-10. The state procured 63.47 lakh metric tonnes of wheat last year.

Giving a break-up of the wheat procured by government agencies, he said over 23.31 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased by HAFED, over 17.48 lakh metric tonnes by the Food and Supplies Department, 8.15 lakh metric tonnes by Food Corporation of India, 6.66 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Agro Industries Corporation, 6.01 lakh metric tonnes by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 4.87 lakh metric tonnes by CONFED.
