Sugar prices for new fine variety increased by ₹10-20 a quintal and remained steady for fair quality and old stocks on Thursday at Vashi market. Prices at naka and mill level ruled unchanged with routine volume. Limited supply and enough stocks kept stockists away from fresh buying. Freight rates were steady. Arrivals were at 59-60 truck loads and local dispatches were at 59-60 loads. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,150-3,240 and M-grade ₹3,260-3,552. Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,125-3,300 and M-grade ₹3,1700-3,400.
