Spot turmeric prices decreased further on Thursday at Erode markets as only poor quality of the produce arrived. On Thursday, 1,238 bags of medium and poor quality turmeric arrived for sale and only 25 per cent of them got sold. Regarding the price, finger turmeric was down ₹300 a quintal while root variety lost ₹200. Traders said only by next week the farmers may bring good quality turmeric and the sales will increase. Meanwhile, the arrival of new crop has started in Nizamabad, where 3,300 bags (of 70 kg each) were put up for sale on Thursday.
