The rupee strengthened to close at 55.13 against the dollar on back of strong inflows.

The rupee opened higher at 55.29 from yesterday’s close of 55.50 on strong Asian markets. The domestic unit also gained because of higher dollar selling by foreign banks and exporters.

Intraday, the currency moved between a high and low of 55.11 and 55.4450, respectively.

Call Rates and G-Secs

The interbank call rates closed at 8 per cent compared with previous close of 8.10 per cent.

The widely traded 9.15 per cent government bond maturing in 2024 closed at Rs 106.43 (yield: 8.30 per cent) compared with a close on Rs 106.49 (yield: 8.29 per cent) on Wednesday.

The 8.15 per cent bond maturing in 2022 closed at Rs 100.42 (yield: 8.08 per cent) compared with a previous close of Rs 100.55 (yield: 8.07 per cent).
