Gold futures on MCX opened higher at Rs 29,600 per 10 grams against yesterday's close of Rs 29,568.
The rupee depreciated 23 paise against the dollar. This helped gold gain strength in rupee term.
Gold futures on MCX may trade in a range between Rs 29,650 and Rs 29,750 on Wednesday.
In Comex, the August contract was up by $3 to $1583.4 troy ounce.
