Bharti Airtel extended its recent firm trend on the markets into trading on Friday morning. At 11.09 am it was the top gainer on the NSE, quoting at Rs 381.80. This represented a gain of 3.19 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 370.

HDFC and HDFC Bank also notched up gains of over 2 per cent during the session. While HDFC was trading at Rs 1,309, up 2.29 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,279.65, HDFC Bank was trading at Rs 1,042.55. This was a gain of 2.09 per cent on its Thursday close at Rs 1,021.25.

Larsen & Toubro built gains of 1.97 per cent to trade at Rs 1,696 as against Rs 1,663.30 at close yesterday.

M&M rode up 1.75 per cent to trade at Rs 1,353.20. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 1,329.95.

It was another record-setting session for the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty today on the back of positive sentiment generated by the ECB's stimulus measures. The Sensex surged more than 300 points to perch comfortably above the 29,300-mark, while the Nifty gained more than 100 points to eye the 8,900 level.
