HDFC led the pack on the BSE in morning trade on Wednesday. At 11.45 am it was trading at Rs 1,340.50 as against Rs 1,309.25 at close yesterday. This represented a gain of 2.39 per cent.
Infosys rode up 2.23 per cent at Rs 2,329 as against Rs 2,278.15 at close on Tuesday.
Mahindra & Mahindra was trading at Rs 1,274.45. This represented a gain of 1.51 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,255.45.
Sesa Sterlite spiked up 1.51 per cent to quote at Rs 215 as against Rs 211.80 at close yesterday.
ONGC flared up 1.47 per cent at Rs 320 as against Rs 315.35 at close on Tuesday.
The benchmark indices the Sensex and the Nifty were buoyed by expectations for a growth-oriented Budget, to be announced on Saturday, and positive global cues. The Sensex was up nearly 200 points to perch near the 29,200 level, while the Nifty gained over 50 points to quote above the 8,800 level.
