Infosys traded firm to hold gains of 2.64 per cent at midsession on the NSE on Wednesday. It was quoting at Rs 2,332.90 as against Rs 2,272.80 at close yesterday.

Ambuja Cement moved up 2.51 per cent to quote at Rs 263.75. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 257.30.

HDFC was on a firm wicket, trading at Rs 1,340.80 as against Rs 1,310.40 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 2.32 per cent.

Sesa Sterlite jumped up 1.89 per cent at Rs 215.35 as against Rs 211.35 at close on Tuesday.

Bharti Airtel rang up gains of 1.84 per cent at Rs 348.35 as against Rs 342.05 at close overnight.

The benchmark indices the Sensex and the Nifty were buoyed by expectations for a growth-oriented Budget, to be announced on Saturday, and positive global cues. The Sensex was up nearly 200 points to perch near the 29,200 level, while the Nifty gained over 50 points to quote above the 8,800 level.
