Metal and energy shares maintained their firm undertone on the NSE on Wednesday. At 3.14 pm Hindalco Industries was the top gainer on the bourse, with gains of 9.13 per cent at Rs 81.85. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 75.
Vedanta held firm to quote at Rs 90.65 against Rs 85.70 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 5.78 per cent.
Cairn India rallied further to hold gains of 4.85 per cent at Rs 166.50 against Rs 158.80 at close overnight.
Tata Steel made rapid strides to trade at Rs 236.30 against Rs 227.50 at close overnight. This was a gain of 3.87 per cent.
ONGC also extended its morning rally to notch up gains of 3.66 per cent at Rs 256.4 against Rs 247.35 at close yesterday.
