Oil and telecom shares were among the top gainers on the NSE on Thursday morning. At 11.25 am Cairn India led the pack on the bourse, trading at Rs 236.20 as against Rs 227.65 at close yesterday. This represented a gain of 3.76 per cent.

ONGC extended its recent firm run to trade at Rs 325.25. This was a gain of 2.55 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 317.15. The oil shares gained following a rebound in crude prices.

According to reports Brent crude oil hit 2015 highs above $63 per barrel on Thursday after a rally of more than 5 per cent in the previous session.

Bharti Airtel was broadly firm, trading at Rs 421.95. This represented a gain of 1.64 per cent on its previous close at Rs 415.15.

Hindalco Industries spiked up 1.26 per cent at Rs 136.85 as against Rs 135.15 at close yesterday.

Idea Cellular gained 1.11 per cent to trade at Rs 200.90 as against Rs 198.70 at close on Wednesday.

Tata Motors rode up 1 per cent to trade at Rs 545.85 as against Rs 540.45 at close on Wednesday.
