The number of daily Covid-19 cases in India in the last 24 hours was around 36,700, similar to what was reported the previous day, as confirmed Covid-19 count in the country crossed 96 lakh. During the same period 42,533 people recovered, while 512 persons succumbed to the viral infection, taking the total Covid-19 death toll to 1,39,700.
As many as 90.69 lakh Indians have already recovered from Covid-19 since the pandemic was first reported in the country on January 30.
Kerala with 5,718 cases, Maharashtra (5,229), Delhi (4,067) and West Bengal 3,206) are the States that have reported highest increase in daily cases in the last 24 hours. Significantly, Himachal Pradesh has overtaken Kerala in 7 day average growth rate with 1.8 per cent even though the number of cases reported in the Himalayan State in 24 hours was just 803. The 7-day average daily growth rate of infection in Kerala and Rajasthan was 0.9 per cent following Ladakh with 0.8 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 tests in India was around 11.58 lakh, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research.
