The School of Life Sciences, Manipal University, will conduct INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research), a residential internship programme for youth, at Manipal from May 27 to 31.
The programme, which is an initiative of the Union Government, is aimed at attracting the best young minds from schools towards science and research, through a series of lectures and demonstrations from eminent scientists and speakers.
A press statement from Manipal University here said more than 150 school students from rural and urban areas of Karnataka, who are toppers in their class X and XI, will spend five days in Manipal. During this time, they will have the opportunity to listen to and interact with mentors from various fields of basic and advanced sciences, while also learning through demonstrations and educational visits.
During the five-day internship programme, the students will interact with scientists and mentors such as CS Yogananda, KN Ganeshaiah, Deepak Saini, Prosenjit Ghosh, Shekar Mande, Sharmistha Banerjee and Ananth Raj, it said. The residential programme is sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India and Manipal University, the statement added.
