The Direct Taxes Regional Training Institute (DTRTI) plans to set up global taxation training centre in Bangalore.
“Currently we are negotiating with public sector, HMT to buy 20 acres of land adjacent our new campus,” said Ms Jahanzeb Akhtar Director DTRI-Bangalore.
“A new and increasing trend is the training of tax administrators of other countries especially developing world,” she added.
Buoyed by the numerous requests from countries such as South Africa, Brazil, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to training their staff in India on global taxation, the DTRTI is working on a plan to set up a centre.
Ms Akhtar said “Looking at the technology prowess of Bangalore and the cosmopolitan nature of the city, we are planning to set up the global centre in the city.”
DTRTI currently caters to the direct taxation related training needs of other Government departments, banks and corporates.
Talking about the new campus, Ms Akhtar said the DTRTI complex at Bangalore has been built on three acres at a cost of about Rs 30 crore.
The facility has 1.25-lakh square feet of built-up area and can provide residential facility for 110 trainees.
The campus is a tree star certified green campus of the Central Government.
Ms Akhtar said the campus at Jalahalli is a model project of the Ministry of Finance in terms of technology incorporation for training, communication, security comfort level as well s environmental sensitivity.
