A fire broke out at the food court of Oberoi Mall in suburban Goregaon this morning. The food court is on the third floor of the three-storeyed mall.
A statement from Oberoi Mall in the evening said the fire started at ‘Maroosh’, (a food outlet) and spread to three to four outlets in the food court. As per the mall’s evacuation and disaster management plan, all occupants were immediately evacuated. None was injured.
The fire was put out in less than 30 minutes with the help of the Mumbai Fire Brigade. However, some outlets and kiosks at the food court area were also affected. The damage is minimal and the mall will re-open at the earliest with all floors expect the food court, the mall management said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated and extent of damage assessed.
