The Himachal Pradesh Government has issued a Letter of Intent (LoI) to Jain Irrigation for an irrigation project involving a financial outlay of approximately Rs 100 crore.

The project, which has water-saving potential of up to 50 per cent, is located in Tehsil Naduan in District Hamirpur at a height of 500 m above sea level. Over 30,000 farmers from a command area of 11,900 acres will get assured irrigation, Jain Irrigation said in a filing to the BSE.

The micro-irrigation project is estimated to require 550 km of piping network and up to 10,000 HP to operate 25 to 30 pumps. The completion time for the project is 24 months after the contract is awarded.

This follows the successful completion of the Bahl Valley Project in Himachal by Jain Irrigation.
