The office-bearers of Kudremukh Shram Shakthi Sanghatan, the present recognised trade union in KIOCL Ltd, from Mangalore and Kudremukh (Chikmagalur) met Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, to represent the problems faced by the employees.
The Sanghatan explained to the chief minister that, after losing the iron ore mines from 2006 due to judgment given by the Supreme Court, the mining activity is stopped at Kudremukh.
The newly elected Member of legislative council, Ivan D’souza, led a team comprising Padmanabh, Suresh Babu, Ashwathanarayana B T, Channakeshava B R, Ramanath, Jayappa Kumboji, Gajendra and Balakrishna to meet the Chief Minister.
