The Akshaya Patra Foundation, which runs the largest mid-day meal programme, is holding three-day training workshops for participants from Institute of Secretariat Training & Management (ISTM).
The workshop was held in Bangalore from December 21 to 23. It will be held in Vrindavan from December 28 to 30.
The workshop provides exposure to pressing social issues and difficulties faced by various strata of society. At present, Akshaya Patra feeds around 1.4 million school children.
The workshop will emphasis on various verticals starting from structure and working process of NGO’s, interaction with external environment, including government agencies working at the field level, site visits, interaction with the beneficiaries, role in delivery of public service schemes of government, role of NGO’s in partnering for implementation of development programmes, role in creating and promotion of self-relevance and suitability among communities, role in encouraging development of local leadership, role as a pressure group in policy formation of government impact creating by NGO’s, stakeholders participation.
As part of the workshop, participants are to visit a centralised kitchen along with a beneficiary school of Akshaya Patra to get a ground level experience.
