A ‘mobile showroom’ from BMW India has called in at Kottayam, an ‘emerging market’ the luxury car maker has identified among tier-II cities in the State.

A weather-proof and air-conditioned structure, the mobile showroom is a replica of BMW’s luxurious dealerships.

Located at Windsor Castle, Kodimatha, the mobile showroom will stay anchored in Kottayam until May 16, a spokesman for hosts Platino Classic said.

TEST DRIVES

It offers aspirant customers an opportunity to experience the BMW brand, test-drives a range of vehicles, interact with product experts and familiarise with promotional finance offers from BMW Financial Services.

A four-car display, a reception area and a VIP lounge are featured here. Cars on display and available for test-drives include the BMW 3 series; the new BMW X1; the BMW 5 Series; and the BMW 6 Series.

The BMW mobile showrooms have reached cities which have the potential to be covered under existing BMW sales and service network.

Among them are Karnal (Haryana); Agra (Uttar Pradesh); Patna (Bihar); Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh); Jamshedpur (Jharkhand); Dehradun (Uttrarakhand); Nashik (Maharashtra); Madurai (Tamil Nadu); Mysore (Karnataka); Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh); Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh).

CUTOMER PREMISES

The Platino Classic spokesman quoted Philipp von Sahr, president, BMW Group India, as saying that BMW India was the first luxury car manufacturer to come calling to customer premises in this manner.

“We wish to bring as many customers to the BMW fold and make them experience BMW and its sheer driving pleasure.”

The BMW mobile showrooms also feature cars ranging from the BMW 7 Series, the BMW Z4, to the BMW X6 and the BMW 6 Series, all of which are available as completely built units.

Currently, BMW India has 34 sales outlets in the country. By 2014, it proposes to expand dealer network to 50 across major metropolitan centres and ‘emerging markets.’
