Every house in Andhra Pradesh will get internet connection with bandwidth of 10-15 mbps for less than ₹150 per month (subscription paid for cable TV now), promised N Chandrababu Naidu today.

Speaking on the occasion of completion of one year in office, the Chief Minister of AP said the State would be among the top three states by 2012. In the first year itself, the growth has been two percent more than the revenue surplus Telangana, he said.

Asserting that he would honour all the pre-poll promises, Naidu said during the year ₹24,000 crore debt waiver, ₹10,000 crore DWCRA loans and ₹6000 crore old age pensions were disbursed by the Government, despite the State being deficit by ₹17,700 crore in revenue terms. The revenue gap would be bridged through a variety of means, including auctioning of red sanders which would fetch upto ₹4000 crore.

Referring to the new capital Amaravathi, he said it will the best capital city globally. The criticism on land pooling was uncalled for because the farmers have come forward to give the land voluntarily and the compensation was handsome.

Naidu-KCR tussle

The AP Government was formulating an action plan for poverty alleviation, employment generation and a slew of welfare schemes.

For agriculture, irrigation facilities would be provided by competing the Polavaram project and interlinking of rivers Godavari, Krishna and Penna.

The State’s long coastline, mineral wealth, water resources and skilled people will be leveraged to drive the growth.

Naidu came down heavily on his Telangana counterpart, K Chandrasekhara Rao for the phone tapping and vote-for-cash arrest and allegations. “Who gave the powers to him when the law and order was with the Governor in the Joint capital of Hyderabad. We will give a fitting reply to the charges, he asserted”.

While administering an oath committing every person in the State for growth, employment and overall contribution, Naidu said June 2 (the day of bifurcation) will be a day of injustice and humiliation for the people of AP.
