Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu has aid that BJP will emerge victorious in all the five States, including Uttar Pradesh, where elections are now being held.

Addressing a media conference here, the Union Minister and Senior BJP leader, said the Congress and Left parties are unable to digest the growing popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP and creating unrest.

Citing recent incidents in Delhi and Kerala, he said these show there is a pattern to causing such problems when the elections are now underway, with the objective to polarisation.

He said the apparent motive of the Congress and Left parties is to hijack the public discourse and create social unrest and dissensions at a time when the Government is straining every sinew to make the economy vibrant and bring out of the deep morass created by the 10-year scam-tainted UPA regime.

The opposition is unable to digest the fact that the country's economy is growing at over 7 per cent, which has been endorsed by the World Bank and other independent agencies.

“While anybody is free to find fault with the Government, it is highly deplorable and unbecoming on the part of these parties to try and seek political advantage in the garb of free speech and university autonomy when the country's unity and integrity are being threatened,” he said.

The Union Minister said stretching the freedom of expression argument too far, the Congress and Left leaders are seeking to justify anti-India slogans although it is well known fact that no fundamental right is absolute and the Constitution has placed reasonable restrictions.

Expressing concern about how issues are being raised and problems created during the ongoing elections, he felt the opposition parties are creating an impression that the critics of the Government are being dubbed as anti-nationals.

While anti-Government slogans are understandable, but no right thinking person will tolerate anti-national slogans, he said.

Of the 740 universities across the country, there are agitations in five or six universities by handful students with ideological affiliations to ultra-Left and Maoists and the Opposition parties are making it appear that unrest is sweeping across all campuses, he said.

He lamented there was disproportionate publicity by a section of the media which is creating a false impression of unrest among students.

This is period when students prepare for their exams and such agitations are against their interest.
