Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) expects to commission its third manufacturing unit in Karnataka early next year.
The new unit would take its two-wheeler manufacturing capacity to more than 40 lakh units annually, a senior executive of the company said today.
He said HMSI expects India to be the most important two-wheeler market in 2012.
Speaking at the launch of HMSI’s newest offering Dream Yuga in Coimbatore on Tuesday, Mr Ashish Choudhary, Regional Manager-South, HMSI, said the company's third plant in Narsapur in Karnataka is expected to be commissioned during the spring of next year. (HMSI has two plants now-in Manesar in Haryana and Tapukara in Rajasthan having a total capacity of 28 lakh units a year).
He said the company has set a goal of becoming the No 1 in product quality, in market share in each town in which it has a presence.
The Dream Yuga will have a starting price (ex-showroom) of Rs 47,456 in Coimbatore.
