Continuing with his interactive sessions with party MPs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met legislators from Gujarat, Goa, Rajasthan, Andaman Nicobar, Dadar Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

BJP President Amit Shah was present in this meeting as was veteran leader LK Advani, who, is also an MP from Gujarat.

Although the initiative is aimed at discussions centred around State-specific issues, besides exchanging views on contemporary political and economic subjects, there was special interest in Gujarat where elections are due by the end of this year. The BJP is believed to be keen on cashing in on the spillover effect from its recent victories in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Assembly elections in Gujarat, and an early election in the western state is being forecast.

This is the second meeting of the PM and the BJP President with party MPs on two consecutive days. The PM had met MPs from Uttar Pradesh on Thursday and thanked them for working hard in ensuring BJP’s resounding victory in the UP assembly polls and asked them to work with party MLAs as a team to transform the State. The PM said the party has got a huge mandate to serve the people and wants to give them corruption-free government.
