New Mangalore Port has handled a largest parcel size of crude oil from a very large crude carrier (VLCC) at its single point mooring (SPM) facility.
A press statement by New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) said here on Wednesday that the port successfully handled one VLCC at the SPM installed by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd (MRPL).
The VLCC, m.t. Humanity, carrying 1.63 lakh tonnes of Iranian mix crude oil called at the SPM, which is located 17 km away from shore, on Tuesday.
This is the largest parcel size of crude oil ever handled at NMPT, the statement said.
The vessel has the capacity to carry up to 3 lakh tonnes of crude oil, it added.
