An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale was felt across north Bengal and Sikkim this evening at 5.05 p.m.
The Indian Meterological Department in-charge in Sikkim, Gopinath Raha, said the tremor lasted for 10.5 seconds.
The quake originated in Nepal at a depth of 10 km, he said.
There were no reports of any damage or casualty from anywhere in the region.
