Insisting that voting be first conducted on the draft AP Reorganisation Bill-2013, legislators of the YSR Congress today disrupted the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Speaker Nadendla Manohar pulled up the YSRC members before he adjourned the proceedings for half-an-hour.

“You cannot do this everyday. You should know the procedures of the House,” the Speaker told the agitating members, who trooped into the Well and demanded voting on the draft Bill ahead of the discussion.

The Speaker appealed to the YSRC MLAs to take part in the debate on the draft Bill and let the House function, but his pleas fell on deaf ears.

Ever since the draft Bill has been referred to the state Legislature by the President, the YSRC has been adopting a stubborn stand that voting be conducted on it prior to the debate.

After having faced suspension for a day, they have been walking out of the House protesting the Speaker’s refusal to concede their demand.

However, on Saturday, YSRC MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy spoke on the draft Bill and opposed the proposed bifurcation of the State. But he said that his party would not be a party to the debate.

All other parties have criticised the YSRC’s approach on the issue.
