Public sector oil marketing companies announced a cut in the retail selling price of petrol by 4 paise a litre and diesel by 3 paise a litre in Delhi effective Monday. The price cut is inclusive of state levies and will vary Statewise.
The reduction in price would have been higher had not the government increased excise duty on the fuel. After the change petrol will cost ₹59.95 a litre in Delhi while diesel will cost ₹44.68.
Meanwhile, the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell has estimated that oil marketing companies will be incurring a loss of ₹5.11 a litre in February for selling PDS Kerosene below market rates.
This has come down from ₹9.16 a litre in January. The PPAC also estimates that cash transfer under the direct benefit transfer of LPG (DBTL) scheme will be ₹155.78 per cylinder in February 2016. Of this ₹108.12 will be from the government and ₹47.66 will be from the oil marketing companies due to ‘uncompensated costs’ to consumers.
