Australia is keen to collaborate with the Indian industry to skill the workforce and for technology of building construction, in order to mitigate risks from natural calamities like earthquakes, Masters Builders South Australia (MBSA) said on Thursday.
A high level team of the apex body of South Australia’s construction industry, with 2,300 members, is touring India seeking collaboration in the areas of skill development, codification of best building practices and technology transfer.
MBSA CEO John D Stokes, in a media interaction here, said the entire safety structure depends on skilling the people involved in construction, right up to the level of foreman.
The body is keen to work with the Indian Government’s initiative to build 100 smart cities and affordable housing, he said, adding that the schemes demand a smart approach to skills development to ensure that the expected 83 million construction workers have access to the best tools to achieve the best and safest outcomes.
