The confirmed death toll rose to 21 from a mudslide in the US state of Washington, authorities said late Sunday.

Fifteen had been identified, with the other six still awaiting identification, the Snohomish County News website said. Another four bodies had been located but not recovered, or included in the toll.

Around 620 rescue personnel, including 160 volunteers, took advantage of an letup in the recent heavy rain to continue their search for victims of the March 22 mudslide that wiped out the logging village on a riverbank, the news release said.

The number of missing was put at 30 Saturday, down from as high as 90 last week.
