As part of its nationwide outreach programme the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) Mumbai is organising a three-day seminar-cum-scientific exhibition, in association with Punjab-based Thapar University’s School of Physics and Materials Sciences. Conducted by a battery of scientists from the BARC, the outreach programme is hosting more than 500 students and faculty members from nearby universities, colleges and schools.
The scientific exhibition on BARC technologies during the seminar will showcase posters and working models in the areas of power generation, nuclear medicine, agriculture, food preservation, reactor technology, industrial applications, biomedical instrumentation, desalination and drinking water technologies. Some of these models include BARC’s farm produce conservation facility located in Nashik district, the nuclear desalination plant in Kalpakkam, Bhabhatron (a low-cost radiation therapy for the treatment of cancer), and master-slave manipulator (robotic arm).
