After a long bearish spell, sugar prices have been creeping up with domestic prices rising about 20 per cent since August. But the increase may not sustain.

While mills are saddled with excess stocks, exports are proving difficult. Sugar prices in the international market are lower than that in the domestic market. The Centre announcing subsidies for cane growers may not be of much help.
