Tata Motors has launched the face-lifted Safari Storme, loaded with a tweaked performance and new connectivity features. The sports utility vehicle is powered by the same 2.2-litre VARICOR engine that offers 150PS of peak power, up about 10PS from the previous version, and the engine is mated with a 5-speed gearbox.

The new Safari Storme has a fully-integrated CONNECTNEXT Infotainment System powered by Harman.

The system features an LCD screen, Bluetooth connectivity, iPod-in, USB-in and AUX-in, along with a CD and AM-FM player, with six speakers. Steering mounted controls also make it to the SUV. The slightly retuned, turbocharged VARICOR engine, delivers 320Nm Torque and the 0-100kmph time is pegged at 14 seconds. The 4x4 variant also features ESOF (electronic shift-on-fly) technology, enabling engagement of the 4x4 or 4X2 modeon the move, with fuel efficiency at 14.1 kmpl.

The ground clearance of 200mm, with a gradeability of 32 per cent in the 4X2 mode, adds to the off-road capability of the vehicle. It also offers (ABS) Anti-lock Braking System and (EBD) Electronic Brake Distribution as part of standard fitment. Other features include the inertia switch and an auto engine immobiliser. In an exigency, the inertia switch automatically cuts-off the fuel supply to the engine, unlocks all the doors and also switches on the hazard warning lights, warning other road users.

The Safari Storme is also fitted with PES headlamps. The refreshed Safari Storme starts at a price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The range is available in four variants, LX (4x2), EX (4x2), VX (4x2) and 4x4), in five colours - Arctic Silver, Urban Bronze, Pearl White, Astern Black and Arctic White. The facelifted Safari Storme will also come with a warranty of three years or 100,000 km, whichever is earlier, extendable up to four years or 150,000 km.
